Privacy Policy

1. The Short Version

Cyber Speeds has no backend and no user accounts. The speed test runs entirely inside your browser, and we do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any information about you or your results. Your measurements are calculated on your own device and disappear when you close the page.

The one exception is advertising: this site is funded by Google AdSense, and Google's ad scripts set cookies and process data under their own policies. That is described in section 4.

2. What Happens During a Test

Running a test makes your browser send and receive data directly with third-party endpoints. Nothing passes through a server we control.

• Latency and jitter — your browser times repeated requests to Google's gstatic.com endpoint.
• Download — your browser streams randomised test data from Cloudflare's public speed-test endpoint.
• Upload — your browser generates random data in memory and sends it to the same Cloudflare endpoint. It contains nothing from your device.

As with any internet request, those providers necessarily see your IP address and standard request headers, and handle them under their own privacy policies. We never receive that information, and your download, upload, ping, and jitter figures are never sent anywhere — they are computed and displayed locally.

Those endpoints are contacted only while a test is running. Simply loading or reading a page on this site contacts no third party at all: our fonts, styles, scripts, and images are all served from this domain rather than from an external CDN, so no other company learns that you visited. The sole exception is the advertising described in section 4.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

Cyber Speeds itself sets no cookies and writes nothing to your browser's local storage. We keep no test history, no preferences, and no identifiers. Reloading the page starts from a blank slate.

Cookies you may find in your browser from this site come from Google's advertising scripts, described below.

4. Advertising & Third-Party Cookies

Cyber Speeds is a free service supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads on this website. As a third-party vendor, Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• Google's use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and may use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies to collect information.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.

5. Visitors in the EEA, UK & Switzerland (GDPR)

Cyber Speeds does not collect, store, or process any personal data of its own, so for the site itself there is no controller relationship and no personal data to hold. The only personal data involved in your visit is what Google processes to serve advertising, for which Google acts as an independent controller under its own terms.

Where advertising cookies require it, the lawful basis is your consent. Before any personalised advertising cookie is set on your device, Google's certified consent management platform presents a consent message asking for that choice. You can decline personalised ads and still use every part of the site — the speed test does not depend on advertising in any way.

• Withdrawing consent — you can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the privacy or consent link shown by that message, and via Google Ads Settings.
• Access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection — because we hold no data about you, these rights are exercised against Google as the controller of any advertising data. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Complaints — you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

6. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not collect personal information from you, and we do not sell personal information. We have never sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months, because we do not have any to sell or share.

Serving personalised advertising through Google may qualify as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CPRA. You can opt out of that at any time:

• Turn off personalisation in Google Ads Settings, or opt out industry-wide at optout.privacyrights.info.
• Send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser — it is honoured as a valid opt-out request.
• You will never be charged a different price or given a degraded service for exercising any of these rights.

7. Your Rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct, or delete on request. Any rights you wish to exercise over advertising data collected by Google should be directed to Google using the links in section 4, or managed through your browser's cookie settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Cyber Speeds is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children — or, indeed, from anyone.

9. Changes to This Policy

If the site ever starts collecting data — analytics, saved results, or anything else — this page will be updated before that change goes live, and the date at the top will change with it.
